Meeting Jenny Doh

On Wednesday Afternoon had the honor of meeting the founder and president of CRESCENDOh, the talented and wonderful Jenny Doh.

Dinner with Jenny Doh

She kindly hosted a dinner party for me and my friends in her home, and we had a wonderful time! We've been working together for some time, but living soooo far, we had not had a chance to meet in person, and I am so glad we did! She is, in one word: Wonderful! As she said in CRESCENDOh's blog it was like meeting an old friend, the relationship we had from emails and letters bloomed in full when we met.... And we even like the same camera!

Great minds think alike!

On Thursday morning we met again in the morning, and we shared more time together... What fun it was! =)

Thanks for everything!

We ate, we laughed and we talked about exiting ideas to continue working together. I am going to drop by the Crescendoh's launch party on May 21st, 2010, and on May 22nd I will participate on a walking tour of Old Town Orange, where at the end of the tour I will be signing copies of "WHERE WOMEN CREATE: BOOK OF INSPIRATION"

Dinner with Jenny Doh

After the book signing, I will be the first artist in the "CRESCENDOh CREATES" workshop series where you will learn how to make mixed media art quilts like the ones you see in the picture with Jenny and Me.

More details coming soon when CRESCENDOh opens signing up for the class. It's going to be limited to 24 people, so make sure you follow up with Jenny if you are interested in signing up.... See you there!

Finally, after waiting for a long time, I had the chance to visit Disneyland! You know, when I was a kid I used to hear other children talk about a place called "Disneyland", it was a magical place full of beautiful things, where you could meet princesses, pirates and have a full day of magical fun.

I always wanted to go there, but I live too far and my parents did not seem very interested in taking me there, so it remained a mythical place for me during my childhood, my teenage years and basically all my life... Until this week.

As you know, I am visiting the LA area with some friends and family and Disneyland was a must place to go. Even ow that I am older, the place was filled with magic, beautiful things and much more. I am glad I finally visited it!... Now, I have to go back with my daughter... I don't want her to wait until she's all grown to go!

I'm On the latest "WHERE WOMEN CREATE" Book!

I have pretty exciting good news to share with you and I'm organizing a NEW giveaway to celebrate!!! Wohoooo!

I bet that you are all familiarized with the Where Women Create magazines and you probably have the book already. I've been a fan of it since the first day that I saw the book in the store. I remember thinking how I would like to be like those women in that book. They all seemed so happy, doing what they loved. Then the magazines followed, I've enjoyed each and every issue, secretly wishing I was part of them. And guess what? I wasn't. I wasn't invited to be part of the magazine. The invitation was even better.

I was invited to be part of The Book: Where Women Create. The book of inspiration!!!!

I was head over heels when I saw it in the bookstore the other day! I almost hit a guy who was standing right in front of it when I jumped to pick it up :P

I looked at the cover. Opened it. And there I was!!! It was me!!!

Oh boy! I'm so excited about this! I know it's not my book, but it feels great to be part of it. I know thousands of people will read it and I hope they find in my story a bit of inspiration.

Thank you so much, Jenny and Jo for including me in this amazing book next to the other wonderful women. I'm really happy!

Take a look at this great video to learn more about it.

You can get the book online at Barnes and Noble and Amazon and everywhere that books are sold.

Now, for the giveaway. Please leave a comment saying what inspire you to create and what's the part that you love most about your studio (If you don't have one, what would be the thing you'd love to have). You have until next Friday, March 26th.

What's the prize? A signed copy of the book (by me) and a set of bookmarks that I haven't done but I will by the time I pick a winner ;)

Good luck and happy weekend!
I'm going to keep jumping with joy and looking at the book (at the same time). It's going to be hard to read... but I can still look a the pictures ;)

Now, for last week's giveaway, the winners have been chosen! I wanted to make this the old fashion way but we have the technology now and I may as well take advantage of it....

158 Entries. Thanks so much for the response and for all your comments!
And the first winner is.... (Drumroll please....): Jen!!!
And our second winner is: Sophie!
Congratulations girls! Please contact me and send me your addresses so I can send you your goodies right away!

The Dolls are ready... and it's giveaway time!!!!

I received a wonderful package during the weekend!!!! I was waiting for it anxiously and I almost ripped off when I finally got it!

What was it, you're wondering?
All my Crescendoh products!
I colaborated with Jenny Doh in the creation of the bag, the Danita and Me kit and Viva la Vida
and Alice in Wonderland stamps. I saw the previews, I saw the videos... but I hadn't seen them in person. Until now!

Jenny was kind enough to send me my own bag and a sampler of the rest of the products, and I want to share them with you because I'm so excited and proud of them. I've been having so much fun with the stamps and I want you to have fun too!

This is one of the sets, called "Viva la Vida". I haven't had time to play with them yet but Jenny did and she created some very pretty juice labels. Check them out here. This is one of the prizes.

The second one is the Alice in Wonderland set. This set has been very busy during the weekend! You know, I'm all about Alice right now ;)

I used them for my journal and for some cards, but what I enjoyed the most doing were the tags for my finished dolls. I used StazOn inkpads (which are my favorite) on coffee stained tags.

Covered them with Modge Podge and dipped them in Mica flakes.

Shake off the excess... and they are ready!!!

What do you think? I think they're the perfect companions to my handmade dolls ;)

The stamps are only available through Crescendoh, but to win your own here just leave a comment telling me which character of Alice in Wonderland is your favorite and why, and I'll pick 2 winners this Friday! (2 sets each).

And by the way, the dolls are finished and ready to go to the shop and they will be available tomorrow at 12 EST. I have some extra good news to share with you, stay tuned!

Thank you so much for your support yesterday.
The update was a success and it was all because of you!

I'll keep adding more stuff that I didn't have time to photograph yesterday in the next few days... and I just realized I didn't include the White Queen... I may do that as well.
But not today. Today I'm going to watch Alice in Wonderland!!!!

Can't wait!

Alice in Wonderland everywhere! Where should I begin?

Here I am again! With the paintings ready and so many great things to share with you!

Somerset Studio in the All things Alice edition is out! I made the "With one palette" section this time... and guess what? Of course, It was about Alice!

The originals from this article won't be on sale in this update because I haven't gotten back yet, but as soon as I do I'll be letting you know and posting them here.

I'm so excited! Couldn't be given a better theme!

I also wanted to thank you for all the comments that I received in my last post and in Facebook. One of best things of having a blog is the feedback I receive and the opportunity to "talk" to artists and costumers. And after not so much deliberation I decided that majority rules! The paintings are going to stay colorful (but if the buyer prefers it antiqued, then I'll gladly do it). BluEyedYogi gave me the idea of adding paper to the sides (I went all the way to the back) and antique that, which I did and that put the final touch. I'm so proud of this collection... it's soooo beautiful! (I'm very proud of myself)

What do you think? I'm only thinking Alice right now. I will attend the premiere with my friend Lillian on Friday and I can't wait!!! To keep myself busy I went ahead and made lots of things with the Alice images...

Super cute round glass necklaces with pure silk ribbons.

Long glass tiles with huge colored bail chains.

One of a kind jewelry.

Charms bracelets too.

Boxes with the new collection,

And with the one in the magazine too.

And stitched ACEOS on playing cards...and more!

The update will be tomorrow Thursday 4th at 12 pm EST at my Etsy shop. HERE!

See you there!
