Charity Wings Calendar

I've been working on this Angel for Charity Wings and I loved the final result. It's all done in watercolors and has collage elements on it as well as stamps. I'm sending it to them this week because it's going to be part of their 2014 calendar.

I've been so busy lately with daily chores that I've had so little time to work. I have a ton of work in progress but none of them is finished yet. Kokeshi dolls, cloth dolls, half done canvases and jewelry waiting to be done.  And then I have kids who demand my attention and a family to feed, a house to clean. Sometimes the things I want to do go to the bottom part of the list and are replaced by the things I have to do so they stay there, patiently waiting until I have time (or energy) to finish them.

Does this happens to you too? How do you manage it?

Welcome Fall!!!

I love Fall!!!  I think it's one of the most beautiful things in the world. The yellowing trees. The leaves on the floor. The cooler weather. The coziness.  Pumpkins. Coffee. Hot chocolate.  Halloween.

And I keep going mentioning all of the great things of this season. But I think that what I love most about it it's the colors. Specially that yellow of the maple trees combined with the aqua blue of the water!!! I'm obsessed lately with that combination!

I've been pinning like crazy looking for beautiful images that scream Autumn and I've got quite a collection. Now is time to get those colors and get to work!

Happy Autumn!

Halloween Frenzy!!!

I've been working like crazy lately finishing some commissioned pieces I had pending and squeezing some time between a secret project and my regular routine to work on some Halloween pieces and also changed the look of my blog. Did you notice? It's now in full Halloween mood (as I am myself). I have to start decorating the house soon too... it's almost October! Well, at the rate time is going lately I could even say it's almost Christmas, but I'll let myself enjoy this Holiday first.

Want to take a peek at my latest creations?

Here they are!

First, here's a collection of small pieces with Halloween Characters. We have Mrs. Vampire, Ghost, Witch, Frankenstein's wife and Pumpkin.  They are 3x6 inches and oh so cute.

I also worked in bigger pieces like this "Fortune Teller" (8x10 inches), "A black cat" (5x7 inches), "Trick-or-Tricksters" (6x12 inches), "Spider Woman" (6x8 inches) and "A cat and a pumpkin" (6x8 inches).

I still have many ideas in my head that I want to turn into Halloween pieces... maybe some more paintings, some more kokeshi dolls and even some bigger ones.  But for now, this is what I'm going to be offering in my next Newsletter this Wednesday 09/18 Start picking your favorite and don't miss it!

I'll be preparing everything meanwhile and will take my son to watch "Planes" today. He's into trains and planes a lot and I'm sure he will love this movie.

Happy Weekend!!!

Halloween has arrived!

It's official.  Halloween has arrived to Danitaland.  During the year, I'm impatiently waiting for September to start working on my Halloween art and September is already here! Yipeeeee!!!!

I went to some stores the other day hoping to look at the new Halloween stuff there but I only found Christmas decorations... What is happening to Halloween!?!?!!?  And what is happening to the stores that are selling Christmas ornaments in Summer?  Well, not here. Here first is Summer, then Halloween and then Christmas. The way it should be. So, I've been working in several things.

The first one was a collection of small Kokeshi dolls with their cute little witch hats and vintage style lanterns. Oh and they live inside decorated coffins because they have to go and rest after a busy night of trick-or-treating, right?

But I didn't stop there. I also made 3 Halloween Creatures: Mr. Halloween Owl, Mr. Halloween Cat and Mr. Halloween Jack-o-lantern.  They're so cute with their ribbon bows and their fabric party hats adorned with vintage style garland.  They don't live in coffins, they all live in their own Jack-o-lanterns and take a peek of the world from there. Of course if they want they can go outside by their own and explore, but they're rather shy so they prefer to stay in the safety of their homes. (You can get them here)

And that's not all. I'm also working in paintings! Little girls going trick or treating, a Spider knitting a blanket for her little babies, a witch and her cat all ready for Halloween, a gypsy ready to read your future and more (I'll show you some pics when I'm done).

What can I say? I LOVE Halloween!!!
What about you?
